China Continues Restoration of Great Wall

China has embarked on a major restoration project of the western end of the Great Wall. The restoration project commenced on November 18, 2011 and work will be done in sections of the Great Wall in the Jiayuguan City.
According to a report in Travel Daily Asia, the project will also include the construction of a world cultural heritage theme park and a heritage inspection centre. The project is estimated to cost US$319 million.
This restoration project is in line with a series of upgrades to the Great Wall. In August 2010, the Hushan section of the Great Wall had undergone restoration.
