It is our pleasure to cordially invite you to attend the sixth edition of the TOURISM LEADERSHIP FORUM, under the theme "Tourism a key driver of economic growth and employment: policies to enhance sustainable competitive strategies” to take place in Madrid, on January 17, 2012, at the eve of the Spanish International Tourism Fair (FITUR).
Tourism has been one of the few sectors to show growth in recent months in spite of the mounting challenges facing the global economy. This Forum aims to stress the message that even in tough circumstances; tourism when well managed and promoted as a priority, can be a key driver of economic development and employment.
The Forum, co-organized, by EXCELTUR, the Spanish Alliance for Tourism Excellence, and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), with the special support of FITUR, will centre the debate on the following issues:
- National policies that have placed emphasis and priority on tourism as a key driver of their economic recovery and job creation.
- New public/private management models to address growing tourism challenges stemming from highly complex socio-economic scenarios and increasing competition.
- Prospects for 2012, considering the macroeconomic uncertainty and how this may affect tourists’ behaviour.
As you may know, EXCELTUR is a non-profit association, formed by the CEO’s of the 26 leading Spanish tourism companies with investments around the world, which aims, amid other objectives, to reinforce the competitiveness of the tourism sector.
With bi-annual frequency, the previous editions of the TOURISM LEADERSHIP FORUM, have been attended by over 1,200 highly-qualified national and international participants drawn from various levels of the public sector, business leaders, investors and academics as well as more than 60 media representatives from all over the world, offering a truly global coverage.
