At ITB 2012, Berlin, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) will again be organizing a comprehensive programme of activities addressing key issues facing the sector. This year, we will be looking at how the sector can collaborate to be more innovative and socially responsible as we work towards achieving continued growth in the times of uncertainty.
To assist the planning of your delegation’s ITB agenda, kindly find below information on all of the UNWTO activities due to take place from 7 to 11 March 2012:
- Silk Road Ministers’ meeting (by invitation only) followed by a VIP Walk “Flavours of the Silk Road”, Wednesday 7 March
- Tourism Trends and Outlook in the Mediterranean (in cooperation with ITB Convention Programme), Wednesday 7 March
- First meeting of the Global NTO Think Tank – Creating value through collaboration (a joint initiative of UNWTO and ETC [European Travel Commission); (by invitation only)], Wednesday 7 March
- Joint presentation of the “Global report on LGBT Tourism” by UNWTO and the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association, Wednesday 7 March
- Preparatory meeting for the 4th T20 Ministers Meeting (by invitation only), Thursday 8 March
- Tour Operators’ Forum on the Silk Road – Creating a stronger business environment for growth, Thursday 8 March
- UNWTO Press Conference, Thursday 8 March
- Executive Committee of the World Tourism Network on Child Protection (for Committee Members only), Thursday 8 March
- Meeting on Crisis Management - TERN: Information needs in times of crises for the travel and tourism sector, Friday 9 March
- Session on the Protection of Tourists/Consumers - accommodation related issues, Friday 9 March
- Affiliate Members Extraordinary Plenary session (by invitation only), Friday 9 March
- 27th Meeting of The World Tourism Network on Child Protection (formerly the Task Force for the Protection of Children in Tourism), Friday 9 March
