At FITUR 2012, Madrid, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) will again be organizing a comprehensive programme of activities addressing key issues facing the sector. This year, we will be looking at how the sector can collaborate to be more innovative and socially responsible as we work towards achieving continued growth in the times of uncertainty.

To assist the planning of your delegation’s FITUR agenda, kindly find below information on all of the UNWTO activities due to take place from 18 to 22 January 2012:

• VI Tourism Leadership Forum of  Exceltur, organized jointly by UNWTO and Exceltur, Tuesday 17 January (a special invitation to this event has been sent jointly by UNWTO and Exceltur today);
•  INVESTOUR for the Americas (B2B session), Wednesday 18 January;
•  Tourism Investment Forum for Africa – INVESTOUR, Thursday 19 January;
•  Panel Discussion on Women’s Empowerment in the Tourism sector – an engine for development, Thursday 19 January;
•  Presentation on Hotel Energy Solutions (HES), in the framework of Fitur Green, in collaboration with ITH, Thursday 19 January;
•  Joint UNWTO/FITUR Silk Road Gymkhana (Silk Road tourism promotional event for consumers), Saturday 21 January.

For the second year, UNWTO in collaboration with FITUR is organizing a special VIP Reception for the Heads of delegations and Ambassadors on the first day of FITUR, 18 January 2012. Personalized invitations will be sent on a later stage.
