UNWTO Seventh World Congress on Snow and Mountain Tourism
29.11.2011
The Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization presents his compliments to the Member States and has the honour to inform them that the Seventh World Congress on Snow and Mountain Tourism will be held in Andorra, LA MASSANA, at the invitation of the Government of the Principality of Andorra on 11 and 12 April 2012.
In view of the success of the previous World Congresses, UNWTO is again calling upon its Member States and in particular their National Tourism Administrations for their support to ensure a high-level meeting and to heighten the prestige of this important event. Snow-based tourism is considered to be one of the most dynamic components of the tourism industry as a whole, both from the economic and the environmental viewpoints. In this regard, this Congress is intended to gather together participants from all branches of the industry of Snow and Mountain Tourism, public and private.
In order to update the invitation list, the Secretary-General is asking the recipients of this communication to kindly send him, if possible by 16 January 2012, a list of regional, national and local bodies with interest in this market which could provide names and addresses of ski-resorts, tour operators, hotel and restaurant companies, professional associations, ski- and alpine-schools, specialized press or, alternatively, to indicate to him the authorities of their corresponding countries able to provide the required information.
As in previous editions, in order to cover the costs inherent in this major event, a contribution will be requested from the participants by the Commune of La Massana. UNWTO members are exempt from this contribution: Members States (National Tourism Administrations and National Tourism Offices), Associate Members and Affiliate Members.
The Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization takes this opportunity to renew to the Member States the assurances of his highest consideration.
