In 2020, the country was visited by 1 million 504 thousand tourists. At the same time, they were provided with tourist services in the amount of 261 million US dollars. In 2021, we have set a goal to pay more attention to pilgrimage tourism, carrying out all work not on general figures, but on the basis of clear plans and detailed calculation of the route. In 2021, 1 million 700 thousand foreign tourists may visit Uzbekistan”, - Aziz Abdukhakimov said.
It was also noted at the briefing that in 2020 the number of local tourists amounted to 1.8 million, and this year it is planned to attract 7.5 million of our compatriots to tourism. The Committee has set a goal to introduce many benefits for tourists, focusing primarily on the organization of comfortable and affordable trips.
“A mechanism will be created that provides for a 30 percent discount on transport, that is, air and railway tickets. Also, based on the existing problems in transport logistics, the opening of new routes was determined. A direct railway flight from Andijan to Khiva, a Ferghana-Urgench flight, rail and flights from the cities of Termez and Karshi to the city of Urgench will be launched. In addition, measures will be taken to increase the frequency of movement by putting into operation an additional 2 high-speed trains and electrification of the Bukhara–Urgench–Khiva railway,” - Aziz Abdukhakimov added.
