
The State committee for tourism development has studied the tourism potential of Tashkent, including Sergeli district, and carried out advocacy work to establish family guest houses in all mahallas.
A number of effective measures are being taken to implement the resolution of the Cabinet of ministers of the republic of Uzbekistan dated August 7, 2018 No 631 “On the organization of family guest houses”. In particular, a working group consisting of chairmen of the State committee for tourism development, the Department of tourism development of Tashkent, the Department of Mahalla and family support of Sergeli district and the mahalla Qubaytepa, Nogai-Kurgan, Sogdiyona, Koshkurgan, Qum-arik, Uchuchilar, Golden Valley, mahallas the study was conducted.
According to the study, 92.0 thousand women (52.2%) in Tashkent are women. It was found that 60% of the population, or 105.1 thousand people, are under 30 years old. There are 33 mahallas in Sergeli district, which cover 40.5 thousand houses. 9.0 thousand (22%) of these apartments are apartment houses.
Today, there are 6,933 business entities in Sergeli district, of which 2,295 are individual entrepreneurs. The members of the working group on studying the tourism potential of the district carried out door-to-door advocacy work on the organization of family guest houses in the courtyards of a total of 16 mahallas attached to the members of the working group.
The study was conducted in person with a total of 184 homeowners to explain the opening of family guest houses, the current focus on family guest homes, and the benefits and advantages of tourism.
For reference: Currently, the total population of Sergeli district is 176.4 thousand people, and at the level of employment 85.4 thousand people are economically active, of which 77 607 people are employed. The study found that 56.1 thousand people need employment in the formal sector, 21.4 thousand in the informal sector and 7.8 thousand. The region's unemployment rate is currently 9.2 percent.
