Today, on June, 8 in Ichan-Kala fortress the grand opening of the First international tournament "Games of heroes" named after Pakhlavon Mahmud took place. The tournament brought together athletes from Uzbekistan, Iran, USA, China, Brazil, India, Japan, Russia, USA, Ukraine, Latvia, Australia, Greece and the countries of Central Asia. Also, the event was attended by foreign observers and judges of the tournament, representatives of local and foreign media.
Khokim (head) of Khiva district S. Zhumaniyazov, Chairman of the Board of the World Strongmen federation (WSF) Vladislav Redkin, winner of ethnosport challenge 2018 in Malaysia Hogg Jeremy made a speech at the opening of the tournament.
S. Zhumaniyazov in his welcoming speech noted that the holding of such events is a good example of a healthy lifestyle for the younger generation: "This Tournament and similar events will encourage our children to grow up with a more energetic, persistent and strong willness, will help to find their place in life, to defend their land and their dignity!» Within two days, athletes will compete for the main prize in competitions such as holding and lifting heavy poles, installing heavy stones on the columns, raising a cart (cart) filled with fruit, pulling a train 20 m, etc. In addition, during the tournament there will be meetings with students of sports educational institutions, master classes, demonstrations of young athletes and entertainment sporting events.
The event, organized by the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for tourism development, Khokimiyat of Khorezm region, Ministry of physical culture and sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the support of the Federations "Heroic games" of the Republic of Uzbekistan and "World Strongmen" is dedicated to the memory of the great man of the Uzbek people Pakhlavon Mahmud, who was famous in his time as an unconquerable hero and enlightened poet, philosopher and Sufi.
